When a report looks wrong
A report is a measurement of a moving target, so the useful question is always "measured when, from where, against what". Four things let us check it without guessing:
- The report link, which carries the
uidin the address. It is the only way to see the exact numbers you saw. - The URL tested, including any redirect, because a test of
example.comand a test ofhttps://www.example.com/are different subjects. - The time, since a score from an hour ago describes a site that may already have changed.
- What you expected, in one line. "It says 42 ms but the same test from another tool says 8 ms" is a checkable claim; "the score is wrong" is not.
If the finding itself is the thing in question, the guide for that finding says how the number is produced, and the guides index lists every one of them. A disagreement with our method is worth reporting; it is how the scoring has changed before.
The company behind it
EnterraHost is an independent hosting company. The same team builds the monitoring, the SEO audits and the free tools, and the infrastructure those tests run from: Cape Town, Frankfurt, St Louis, Singapore and Sydney.
